Seven points needed for title
Friday, Apr 14, 2006
Manchester United¡¦s shock failure to beat bottom club Sunderland tonight, Friday, means Chelsea need a maximum of just seven points from our final five games to win the title.
The maximum United can now achieve is 88 points. Chelsea has 82.
If Chelsea win at Bolton tomorrow, then United must win at Tottenham on Monday lunchtime to ensure Chelsea can¡¦t win the title on Monday afternoon at home to Everton. Should United draw again, then a Chelsea victory would win the title ¡X providing Bolton are beaten tomorrow.
Chelsea¡¦s six point lead with a game in hand over United is shored up by a goal difference which is superior by eight.
Sunderland were relegated as a result of their draw, but celebrated their non-defeat and 12th point of the season as if they were the victors.
